Abby turned 17!!
This week we celebrated Abby!! She turned 17! Time is flying by, this week she registered for her senior year. High school will be over before we know it. Abby is such a hard worker. She sets big goals and works so hard to achieve them. She is so loyal to her team and her friends. She is very empathetic and aware of others and she has a big heart. We love her so much!!
Monday we went to the Drill Showcase. It was fun. Abby's team did great, this has been a fun team. They have gotten along so well and become a close team that has worked super hard!! Who knows what will happen next year, but this was a good year. She made new friends. She grew a lot as a dancer and a person. She had a great year and we are so proud of her and all her hard work.
Tuesday was Abby's birthday. It was pretty simple and we had places to be, but we celebrated with some brownies and ice cream. Abby got her ticket to see Hamilton with Grace and me on August 1st. We were glad we got to celebrate Abby and all the great things she is doing.
Thursday Abby went to the science fair. She didn't want to go back to see how she did, but we heard she got a first-place ribbon. She also started her ACT prep classes this week, the test is in a few weeks. She has big goals.
Two weeks ago I checked Grace out of school and she went and got her driver's permit. She passed the first try!! We have only been on a few rides since, all in the church parking lot. But we have a lot of time to practice.
Last Sunday Grace was working so hard on her story for her Educator Rising competition. It looked like she still had quite a bit to finish, so Abby, Bryce, and I pulled up a chair and some colored pencils and got to work. We all worked and colored for about 1.5 hours. She finished and did great.
Wednesday Grace went to an educator's rising conference. Her story was about three dogs, Bolt, Daisy, and Toby, who join up with two cats, Sparkles and Rosie. Wonder where she got the names and idea from? They hated each other and learned to work together and were friends by the end. She had to present it in front of judges. She is doing such brave things and learning a lot!!
Play practice is going strong. They are now working on full run-throughs. She got her costumes on Friday and is excited about her different roles and costumes.
This week Spencer had a field trip to the Planetarium and City Creek. He loved the planetarium and he liked the 3D movie. At City Creek, he ordered his own lunch and then he ordered ice cream, but ran out of time, so he just threw it away. He is having a great year and just loving life, scouts, skiing, games, and all sorts of new things.
Thursday night and Saturday Bryce, Spencer, and I went to both Weber State home basketball games. Thursday night they played Colorado and it was a close game the whole time. With 21 seconds left, Weber State was down by 6 and they tied it!! Then they won it in overtime. Quite the game!! Saturday they led the whole game, a little less exciting, but fun still. We realized it is the last game we will go to without Lynn and Kay and we are very happy about that!!!!
Spencer was studying pioneers at Scouts last week, so he helped me make Johnny Cakes this week. They were actually really terrible But he gets cobbler at camp from Erick Thompson, which will taste a lot better than our Johnny Cakes. Then this week was Unity Week at school. For team jersey day Spencer pulled out all the stops wearing all of Ben's old gear together. He is pretty hilarious right now.
Elder Moyes moved back to Grand Rapids in a new ward as a Zone Leader with Elder Boe. He lived with Elder Boe while living in Grand Rapids before. They shared the same apartment while Elder Boe's Muskegon apartment was remodeled. He loved his time in Saginaw. He loved his companions, enjoyed working with the sisters in the ward, and met lots of friends. Elder Driggs was a great companion and they learned a lot together, they dealt with some hard things and worked through it all.
His last week he had two baptisms in Saginaw. There was a sister named Linda that has been working with the missionaries for a while. And a Brother named Jon. He was excited for them and the commitments they chose to make.
We have had some crazy weather lately. A storm moved on Friday. It was mostly raining. Then Saturday I drove Abby to Piano Federation because it was so windy and on the way home it started snowing hard! We got a couple of inches yesterday. Then today we woke up and everything was covered with More snow! It was quite a bit this time!
We went to Bear Lake for President's Day. It was a nice little break. All the Moyes cousins were there. Some played outside and most of the time was spent just chilling and relaxing. The Saturday before the kids went with the ward to the ward temple baptisms.
Bryce and I celebrated our 22nd Anniversary! After we got home from Bear Lake on Monday we decided to go out to dinner that night. We went to Texas Roadhouse and talked to Ben on the way home. Tuesday's are always a bit busy and crazy, so we celebrated a day early.
On Sunday we were asked to help at Trek with the logistics and transportation. It will be a fun group, Troy and Nicki are in charge, with Alan and Angie Walker and Brandon and Jamie Taylor helping.
