Tweety

Tonight was the Art and Achievement Fair at the elementary school. It is when you can go buy some art projects of your kids to donate to the schools art fund. This year the only thing Ben could talk about was the chicks in the incubator. His teacher had chicks that had started to hatch and was selling them for $2. He asked me if he could have one and I told him to talk to Bryce. Of course Bryce said yes. So without even us saying anything else Ben ran to his room and got $2 out of his piggy bank. (he never once asked for money - so cute) So we went to go early to the fair and it was packed so we decided to wait and go a few minutes late. So an hour later we show up and his teacher only had a few left. He was so excited. I stopped to talk to a few friends in the hallway and before I even made it to the classroom he had his chick picked out and was holding it in his hands. He had brought a shoe box from home to carry it home in, but as we were driving home he realized that his box was way to small. The chick was jumping up and down and trying to get out and making a lot of noise in the process. That is when Ben decided to name him or her 'Tweety'. Before we made it home Ben hurry and put the lid on the box so the chick couldn't hop out. Luckily Bryce was prepared and as soon as we pulled in the garage a larger box was waiting. But what Bryce couldn't find was his heat lamp to keep it warm. So Ben and Abby were so careful and carried the box in the house next to the fireplace to keep it warm. The kids were mesmerized. Everyone was so excited to watch the chick run around in a tiny circle. Finally after Bryce and my dad had looked for a heat lamp and even considered using the easy bake oven, Bryce got the garage all set up for the little chick - thanks to our good friends and neighbors who raise chickens. The Beesley's came to our rescue so Abby's Easy Bake Oven was safe. Now the chick had a warm home in the garage where we hopefully won't hear him all night long. The kids thought it was perfect and are very excited to check on Tweety in the morning.
