So sick

We are finally recovering from a very rough week or two. About two weeks ago Ben and Bryce came down with a cold. It was so bad and they felt really sick. Bryce usually is pretty tough when he gets sick, but he couldn't warm up and sat in front of the fire place for hours. I mean still it didn't stop either one of them too much because they still spent the morning at the outdoor show on Saturday and the Harlem Globetrotters on Monday, so somehow they were surviving. But really you you could tell they felt crummy.
So Sunday we kept Ben and Grace home from church. Grace just because it was easier than taking her, but it was a good thing. That night she got a fever and threw up and was so sick. So when Grace got it we knew she would be sick for a while, but after four days of a 103 degree fever we took her in to the doctor. The doctor even felt so bad for her because just looking at her she looked so miserable, but she was still so cute and sweet. It ended up being the flu after numerous test to rule out everything else. But that meant that we had to cancel our weekend plans to keep her home.
Our weekend plans just happened to be a night stay at a hotel with dinner to celebrate our 10th anniversary. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. After taking care of my sick family for a week I was so ready to get away and instead I was still taking care of my sick family.
It ended up being a good weekend despite it all. Ben and Abby went with the Moyes' to the cabin and had a blast. And Bryce and I hung out with Grace and remembered how easy it was to just have one kid, even when they are sick. (funny how your prospective changes over time) So Saturday we put Grace to bed early and got take out and set the table with candles and wine glasses and had a fancy dinner of our own.
Grace was actually so cute all weekend even though she felt so sick. She loved being the only child and really took advantage of every moment. She wanted us close by and gave lots of hugs and kisses. She kept telling us how much she loved us then she would tell us that I was the best mom ever or Bryce was the best dad ever. She would remind us every time she coughed that "her cough just wouldn't go away" and would tell us that "she was sick". It is so hard when they just don't understand. But through it all she was super cute.
She did start to feel a little better by Monday and had a blast playing princesses with Bryce on the computer.
But I'm just glad that everyone is starting to feel better. It was a long couple of weeks.

Glad she's feeling better! Wish you guys could have come to the cabin, but at least we were able to have fun with Ben and Abby! And I feel so bad because I forgot to tell Bryce "Happy Anniversary" when we dropped off Ben's shoes. Hope you can go out soon for your anniversary!
