The start of Summer
Summer is always such a fun time of year. We stay very busy and have so much fun.
For our official kick off of summer we had a great "Pajama Day". All of us stayed in our pajamas all day and watched a movie, popped popcorn, ate snacks, and did nothing. It was a lot of fun. The kids had so much fun building a fort to watch the movie and to play in. I would love to make it a new tradition. We did finally change our into our clothes, but only to watch them working on excavating the hole for the house and to play outside - It was a great start to a busy summer.
We have also been to the dinosaur park. The kids always love the park, no matter how many times they go. Grace loved it, but wanted to walk instead of being pushed in the stroller. Jen finally was able to quit her job and join us "moms" for a day out. We had such a fun time and the kids just love to be together. I am so thankful to live by both of our families so we can do so much together.
Starting at the end of last year I started watching our friends kids, Justin and Lindsy. It has been great - the kids get along so well and it fills in a full day of friends and playing. So every Thursday we try to get a few hours of swimming in. It kills a few hours and the kids love it. This was the first time Grace had a chance to run through sprinklers, I had a feeling she would like it, but she loved it!! She would run right through it and stick her head it and it would spray her right in the face and she would come out with the biggest smile on her face. She loves the water.
In June we also took our kids to the zoo we had a great time. They loved the animals and wanted to make sure we didn't miss any. Anywhere we go my kids love to get a map and carry it around and follow where we are and what we still need to see. So we were at the very start of our adventure at the zoo and Ben found a groundhog on his map. He couldn't wait to find the groundhog. So I looked at the map and found it was completely on the other side. So I had to show him the route and make him feel better that we wouldn't miss it, but it would take a while to get there. So for the last animal we went to the gophers and poked our heads up the holes underground to see them. Then we went for a train ride and called it good. We had a great time.
It was a crazy weather month. It was very cold and wet. So we also had a lot of indoor days. But Bryce being the wonderful dad that he is took my kids outside in their mud boots to splash in the rain puddles. They had so much fun and it was definitely something they had to do with dad. Grace had a blast. I had her bathed and ready for bed and she came back in with mud all over her bum. She had fun running through the puddles, but I guess it wore her out because she had to sit right in the middle of a puddle. So she got new pajamas and ready for bed.
We also welcomed Corbin Matthew Jenkins into our extended family. Jen and Matt had Corbin on June 15th 2010. He is so handsome and we are so happy he is here.
Then Ali and Jeff came to visit and we had a great vacation to Jackson Hole (more details to come). But Jeff had to leave early, but luckily Ali and Gavin stayed so we could do more with them. I have totally fallen in love with Gavin, he is such a cute boy. He has been so much fun. We will really miss them when they are gone.
One night we took all the kids to the trout farm. It was great. Abby and Ben loved to catch the fish. Abby was even very brave and touched her fish. And by the end of the night Ben was able to carry the fish to the bucket. They had a blast watching all the fish swim around. And I was a nervous wreck trying to watch Grace not jump into the water. So I mostly held her and let her gives hugs. She loves her cousin Tessa very much. Grace was really so happy when Bryce got her back and let her run. It was such a fun night.
Well as you can tell I have overused the words "it was fun" but really it has been great and we have "had fun". We were able to do so much and its only the start of the summer. We can't wait for all the "fun" things to come.
