Remembering the Barn

Since we are building on an old family lot, their was an old family barn on the lot. It is the coolest looking barn, but it also is a very old barn. My kids have had fun the last few weeks walking around the barn and playing in it.

But we think its about 100 years old and some of the wood is not as strong as it once was and we were worried that someone could get hurt in the barn so we decided to tear it down. We have been really sad, and we know many people feel bad about loosing the barn, but I don't want to have anyone get hurt there so it needs to come down. Ben has heard everyone talk about how sad it is to see the barn come down and if you ask him he will tell you how sad he is to have to tear the barn down.

Bryce has been working really hard to tear down the barn. He wanted to be really careful tearing it down to save the wood. It is such neat old barn wood and we know everyone in the family will want to use some, as well as us. So piece by piece Bryce has been tearing off the wood slats.

So I guess there always comes a time when you have to tear down the old to build the new. While we are sad to loose the barn we are so excited to start building the house that we can stay in forever and raise our kids and remember that we live on a part of Moyes history.
