Moab
In October we took our kids to Moab with my family. We had such a great time. Jen and Matt planned the trip and we are so glad. We left Thursday and drove to Moab then stayed till Saturday. It was a quick trip, but so fun.
Friday we went on a hike with all the kids.
(I know you are wondering why I am carrying Grace, but considering the options of carrying a 15 pound baby in a backpack or a 25 pound squirmy 2 year old on your back or shoulders - there was no question in my mind - I picked to carry Grace - GOOD CHOICE)
Now considering that we had 7 kids we got a few funny looks. But the kids we amazing. They loved all the different rock formations. There were a few areas that made little caves, that were really neat. The kids loved to run around and play in all the different places.
Ben walked every step of the 4 mile hike. Not only did he walk the whole hike, but he never complained and loved to run on the flat parts. Now Abby was a different story she walked a few times, but luckily Bryce and Matt were able to carry her most of the hike. And give myself a little pat on the back I carried Grace in the backpack for quite a while, until it was getting a little to steep that I felt like I might tip over. Then Bryce took Grace and Matt took Abby.
At the end of the hike it was a beautiful arch. And a really cool little cave that the kids loved to play in.
That night we all went to dinner together. And it made me wonder do people think you can't hear them or do they just don't care when they make comments about how many kids we have. Anyway we turned a few heads while eating dinner.
That night Jed and Shan had a campfire at their camping spot. We went over for a little bit to have a s'more before our kids crashed in our cozy hotel room.
We stayed in a really great 70's hotel while we were there. It had this gorgeous mural that we didn't ever want to forget. . .
Feeling a little groovy huh??
On Saturday Matt, Jed, and Joe went for a bike ride. So since mountain biking isn't on Bryce's favorite outdoor activity list, he was lucky enough to go walk Main Street and go shopping. But it didn't take long for our kids to pick their souvenir then we were on our way. We decided since we were down that way we better stop at Arches National Canyon. It was so great. Our kids loved it. You would think after a 4 mile hike on Friday my kids would have been exhausted. But they weren't they loved to walk the various short hikes to the different arches.
My kids favorite was this arch that led to this narrow aisle type things and a big room with big rocks and fine sand. (If it sounds like I don't know what I'm talking about - it's because I don't Grace fell asleep in the car and I didn't go - And they kept talking about the really cool arch I missed. Isn't that how it always goes.)
