T-ball

Ben has been so excited for Tball to start. Last week his team had the first practice. It was an interesting experience. For most of the boys this is their first year playing, so they really had no idea what they were doing. They would just run around in the outfield. Bryce is the coach and started by having them run the bases a couple of times. Then mostly they focused on hitting the ball off the tee. Each player got a few turns to hit the ball then they ran to first. Then the next player would take a turn hitting and then when he hit a few times he would run to first and the player on first would go to second. So they did great, but they needed someone to tell them when to run, but they did great. Bryce and Ben practiced hitting off a tee at home, but only once with such a heavy bat, so this was the result ...

He did much better after a few tries. He was so excited. But after practice they got a popsicle and that was still his favorite part.

So after practice we were not too sure how the actual game would go. So last night we found out - actually they did really well. They knew where to run and somewhat knew the point of being in the outfield. Of course in the outfield they were still chasing each other and just playing, but they did try to pay attention when someone hit the ball. Because all seven or eight players would run straight to catch the ball (or pick it up I should say). Ben's first at bat he hit the ball and I guess he thought it was batting practice, because he didn't want to run to first base, but once he realized he was supposed to be on first base he did great. He was so excited to run the bases. So here is some video of the last inning of the game. Ben is #4(the one that is crouched down)

I loved the fact that when a player got up to bat he would "get low" to catch the ball. They would get so excited to pick up the ball, isn't the little blonde boy so cute when he got the ball. Ben didn't care who got the ball, he would just run around and dance everytime his team got the ball after the team hit. He loved his first tball game. We can't wait for the next game. After the game he said his favorite part was running the bases.

Thanks to all our family who came to watch he felt very special to have so many fans.

Grat job Ben! You look good out there.
Karson likes T-ball too except were not doing it this year. You and the parent have to do it with them and with 2 other boys I thought it would be a little overwhelming. Next year though! Way to go Ben! That is cute he would go low for the ball. Sounds like he has a good coach to teach him how to play.

Okay I finally watched the video that everyone told me about. How funny! I wish we lived closer so we could come and see Ben in action. I love that he squats down...he's ready to play!
